Engineering Courses for Employees

The CEATA Training Academy offers an extensive range of engineering courses for employees to benefit employers and their staff. Each programme has a vocational objective, which may include gaining a recognised qualification or employment, undertaking an apprenticeship, or developing current skill levels.

Training with us will help existing members of your team to boost their skills to meet your objectives and gain industry-recognised qualifications.

We have a wide variety of available programmes. Please visit our course list for full information about what we have on offer.

Some of our courses for employers and employees include:

Engineering short courses

We run a regular programme of short welding and fabrication courses throughout the year, so we have a consistent pool of students who are qualified and ready for work.

Employing our trainees means that you will benefit from dedicated employees who are able to instantly become an asset to your team. We recommend only students who we feel have the reliability and basic skills you need, and there is no charge for this recruitment service for our partner employers.

Engineering apprenticeships

Our engineering apprenticeships provide training and support while allowing apprentices to benefit from hands-on experience in your workplace.

Apprentices start on intermediate level and progress to the advanced level, providing a comprehensive development framework to get the most out of your apprentice and your investment in them.

Our apprenticeships include:

Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard (Machinist)

This apprenticeship focuses on manufacturing engineering. It follows the Engineering Technician Standard, which lasts for 40 months and includes off-the-job training for at least 20% of their paid hours.
During this time, apprentices will achieve Level 2 and 3 Diplomas in both Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Machining. They will have also demonstrated appropriate behaviours and completed a rigorous End Point Assessment, as well as achieving Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths.

See the full details of this apprenticeship on our course list.

Intermediate Apprenticeship Programme: Fabrication & Welding

This intermediate apprenticeship provides a foundation of experience in fabrication and welding over 15 months. Apprentices will attend CEATA one day per week to meet the minimum requirement for off-the-job training.

The apprenticeship will lead to achievement of an NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations, and a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Technology. All apprentices must also achieve Functional Skills at Level 2 in English and maths.

Upon successful completion of this programme, suitable apprentices will progress to the advanced apprenticeship in fabrication and welding.

See the full details of this apprenticeship on our course list.

Advanced Apprenticeship Programme: Fabrication & Welding

This Advanced Apprenticeship builds on the Intermediate Apprenticeship in Fabrication and Welding with more advanced techniques and knowledge study. The apprenticeship takes place over 20 months, and off-the-job training is provided at CEATA one day a week.

During this programme, apprentices will achieve an NVQ Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Fabrication and Welding, and a Level 3 Diploma in Fabrication and Welding Engineering Technology. All apprentices must also achieve Functional Skills at Level 2 in English, ICT and maths.

See the full details of this apprenticeship on our course list.
